[Around an hour later, as promised, Kate returns to her apartment with a backpack slung over her shoulder. She shoves the door open with her hip, then looks around for her favorite bat boy.]
[Brooding already, then. It's about what she expected. She sets the backpack on the floor, then crosses the room to sit down beside him, touching his shoulder gently.]
[She's actually surprised when he doesn't pull away, so she squeezes tightly before pulling away. No point in pushing her luck or making a big deal out of it.]
Because if he'd gotten to him first, he could've taken him out while he was compliant. All it would've taken was something like 'break your own neck' and there, problem solved.
I know what my father is like and I know who he is at his core. Jason's going to tell me I'm wrong. Dick's going to tell me I'm wrong. And they're going to get pissed off that I don't want to play nice with him.
