Would you consider your character to be heroic? Why or why not?: Yes! Unfortunately? Fortunately? There's not a lot of muddiness here. Kate's your typical superhero in a lot of ways—refuses to kill, has a strong sense of duty and a need to help others, and takes those responsibilities very seriously.
Kate grew up in one of those disgustingly rich families that buys you a fast pass to life. Her mother was probably her saving grace here—Eleanor was constantly donating to charities, volunteering, and encouraging Kate not to take their position for granted. As a result, Kate grew up almost uncomfortable with her wealth, and uninterested in the trappings of the social class she was born into. Her father was the opposite—a total asshole white collar criminal, and as Kate picked up on this more and more as a kid, it further cemented her determination to follow her mother's path, eventually leading her to go two to two with her dad when she realizes the depth of his corruption.
She holds herself and her allies to very high standards, which can cause friction when those standards aren't met, and her strong morals and refusal to bend on them cause significant issues in her relationships, especially those with her family and Clint. They can also get her in a lot more trouble than she bargains for.
